The Story:

  • Stella looks out the window and sees a sunny day, so she knows she can go play.
  • Horsi looks out the window and sees a rainy day, and understands to prepare to try to stay dry.
  • Dolfi looks out the window and sees the stars, and knows it’s time to say good night.

What We Learn:

  • Learning to predict the weather can help us know what to do and how to be prepared for the day.
  • Predicting future events can help us feel safe.

Why it is Important:

  • Children develop of sense of order and safety when they learn to make predictions. Stella and Horsi were able to prepare for sunny or rainy play when they predicted the weather by looking out the window.
  • Children can develop self-help skills and gain independence when they can prepare for their day by looking at and predicting the weather. Dolfi knew it was time to start the bedtime routine by noticing the stars out the window.
