The Story:

  • At school, all of the characters keep their hands to themselves or at their sides during meal time, while in line and on the playground.
  • When Ami takes a block from Jelli, and Jelli gets mad and hits Ami, the teacher steps in to remind them to keep their hands to themselves.

What We Learn:

  • Children learn to keep their hands to themselves so that no one gets hurt.
  • Children can keep their hands to their sides to help them remember.

Why it is Important:

  • In this tuneTOON, children can observe times at school where it’s important to keep themselves and others safe, like the table, in line and on the playground so they understand when and how this rule applies.
  • When children see Jelli get mad and hit Ami in frustration, they can see that there is another way and that the teacher is there to help them make a different choice.
  • Reminding children to keep their hands to their sides can give them a concrete alternative to hitting.
